Wedding bouquet quest.

Still working on the wedding bouquet idea, I have now begun playing with Fantasy Film, a type of liquid resin and have created a lovely pearlised flower with seed bead stamens.

I've also been playing with seed beads to make French Beaded roses.

Let me know what you think and which one you would prefer...or if you think both would work well.

Liquid Resin

Just been a bit busy playing with liquid resin.

Thought I'd try making some flowers to put in my latest design of a bridal bouquet made of beads, crystals and buttons.

Got the flower right, now just have to get the strengthener right as the first session turned the beautiful pearl flower, yellow!

Once this technique is in check, I will post photos of the flowers for you to comment on.

Hope to do this in next couple of days.

Peakirk Gallery

I know it's been some time since last blogged, but I have been busy getting things ready for the launch party at St Pegas Gallery in Peakirk near Peterborough.

The launch party was on the 12th May and the Mayor of Peterborough came to officially open the gallery.

I made my way there at 16:00hrs to find the gallery owner, Neil, sweeping up the floor....time for action.

I grabbed the wine (no not to drink) and set up the table of refreshments close to the entrance.

I spent the next four hours greeting the visitors, getting them to sign the visitors book and showing them around the studio space before asking them to go upstairs and enjoy the exhibition.

The gallery 'as seen on BBC Look East' will also be appearing in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.

Now just have to find out when and who will be able to get me a copy!

In the meantime, here's me at the launch party with the mayor!

AAAAAAHHHHHH

Can't believe it's so long since I posted, but so much has gone on.

My daughter had her birthday along with my husband and we spent the weekend of his birthday in Leeds watching Big Country in concert.

They played Eiledon, but I didn't get a mention although they did reply to me on their website.

Found out about a new gallery opening in Peakirk near Peterborough and so I contacted Neil in charge and managed to get some of my pieces exhibited.

The gallery will be opening on May 12th so watch this space!!!

Due to this, I have sent some of my best pieces, which I wanted to re take the photos of, so will now have to make more and start again.

I did try to take some photos one night when I managed to have time spare (rare these days) only to find my camera battery was flat!

Just been knitting some scarves for craft fairs later in the year, which is a little strange in the sunny weather of April/May, but needs must.

Finished the scarves for now and so going to go onto a few websites next to start browsing for my next project.

Photographs will be coming......soon

The school holidays are here and with it bring two birthdays in my household so lots to organise!

After looking through the rubbish manual for my camera I turned to my brother in law who has told me the settings to use to get the best close up photographs.

Now all I need is a little time to set up the new photography light box and take some.

Oh for more hours in the day!

Work on the website

I went to a shop I have been supplying for the last year, only to find that the owner now wants £5 a week for each shelf. She wanted 20% off for herself and other members of staff and bought as many scarves as I could supply at christmas, but I just can't make the money to pay the rent as well for three shelves of stock. Now decided to concentrate on the website.

I've decided my pictures are rubbish!

Having looked on the craft forum, I've decided to buy a photo box with lights and a tripod for the camera to take better photographs of the pieces.

I went to toddlers and managed to sell some pieces there without having to try, so hopefully if I can show the jewellery "in a better light" others will want to buy too!

Craft fair

All ready for Edwinstowe craft fair tomorrow, which is 10.00 to 16.00 is anyone wants to pop along and say hi.

Didn't get as many of my ideas done as I would have liked, but always the way.....to many ideas, too little time.

Nervous about how busy it's going to be, but probably not as nervous as my husband who has to look after both children by himself for a whole day!

Tried chainmaille last night and made some chains to put on Zips, so hopefully will see how they sell, now just got to find a picture of a zip that I can print off and stick to card. Thought I'd tack one of the zip jewels (as I call them) to the picture, in order to illustrate.

Great Minds

Having read Ali's comment, all I can say is great minds think alike!

Already got the tickets for the Big Country concert sent them an e-mail saying I was going, the date, the fact it was my husband's birthday and the fact that my company name was Eiledon.

Thought they may look or mention it at the concert (may get a few more viewers) also thought I'd better mention my husband....if they do leave him out at least I could say I did include him in the initial e-mail!!!

Already had a reply back from them, but it just said thanks Jackie!

You never know.

Big Country

Already sold the dark red, black and grey floater necklace so a good start to the week.

The Helpringham ladies pamper evening has been cancelled though as no tickets were sold, which is a bit of a blow, but still another craft fair at the end of March to look forward to.

Having been to see Wonderstuff and Levellers last week at Lincoln Engine Shed, I have just booked two tickets to see Big Country at the O2 in Leeds.

Eiledon (the name of my business) is also the name of a Big Country song (my husband's favourite band), I'm also second on Google to them with more of their websites below so who knows, may even be known by them!

Wirework

Thought this week I would try going back to do a little more wirework.
Made another floating necklace similar to last week, but with dark red beads.

Ordered some Miracle beads and love the way they catch the light, so after doing a memory wire bracelet with matching earrings which is rather a fun piece.....

I thought I would try to use them on a wirework piece.

Quite pleased with the way they turned out.....Now just to make more for the craft fairs coming up.

I will be at the ladies pamper evening at Helpringham school on Friday 25th March and then at Edwinstowe craft fair on Sunday 27th March.

Say Hi if you come!

More work in progress

Just spent the last few days sorting out my husband's birthday (not until April).

Made a few more items and began knitting another beaded evening bag again as I haven't done any any for some time.
I made a similar set as the first picture to wear at my niece's wedding and loved it so much I made another to sell in the shop.
The second picture shows the start of the knitted beaded evening bag and the third picture is some lovely pale blue "miracle" beads used in a wired bracelet.
Think I'll watch a bit of Friday night tv and do some more knitting with my cat on my knee!

New designs

Got completely away from weddings this weekend by going to see Wonderstuff and the fantastic Levellers play live at the Engine Shed in Lincoln.

Sang very loudly to every song and drank beer (something I don't normally do these days!)

ENOUGH OF THAT!

Although I may have another wedding in the pipeline, I am now focusing on more everyday jewellery.

just delivered to the shop these necklaces, bracelet and handbag charms.

Have to start really producing things again fast as I have some craft fairs coming up.

The wedding...part two

Now managed to put on the many photos taken of the day, so here to share with you are some of the few:
The happy couple.

The bridesmaids and an usher. I made the alice bands for the smaller bridesmaids (shown in close up yesterday) and the pearls on hairpins for the larger bridesmaids. The smaller bridesmaid on the right is my daughter Zoe.

Pearls and crystals were added to the bride's hairpins.

The cake had petal paste roses added to each layer and of course had to be beaded to match the wedding party!

Probably going to add these to the shop (the beaded strands so that other brides have the option of buying the three layers from a supermarket or department store and then adding their own decoration.

Of course the day wouldn't be complete without the three special people in my life!

For the rest of the week, I am going to be doing other jewellery (than wedding) and will also have to start and think about the up and coming craft fairs.....until next week xx

Year flown by!!!!

I can't believe we are already into March.

After christmas I began making jewellery for the next wedding, which happened to be my beautiful niece.
A bit late to start new year's resolution, but I now plan to keep this blog up to date with what I am currently working on.
The wedding took place on Saturday (26th February), at Allington Manor near Grantham.
I made the hairpins, the alice bands, the young bridemaid's alice bands, wraps and decorated the wedding cake.
Lots of pictures:

Tomorrow I will be putting the wedding photos on the blog to see how they looked on the day!

Nearly Christmas

Can't believe I haven't updated in such a long time. I have been so busy getting ready for the christmas rush with both my family and my business that everything has just gone mad!

If I see another mug cozy I'll definately go mad as I've had rush orders on for these and scarves. Ran out of yarn for the scarves and had to quickly buy more...still shouldn't complain for the rush.

Already planning next year's christmas as the invites to go to fairs has already begun.

Best get off now and complete more forms for more christmas fairs!!!!

The wedding

Emma has finally made it through her big day.

CONGRATULATIONS Emma and her new husband.
As promised I will now show some of the items worn on the big day.

The tiara was created using white glass pearls and Swarovski AB crystals to give it that extra sparkle!

Just one of the bracelets for Emma to choose from on her big day.

With four younger bridesmaids, Alice bands were the choice made and created using the same pearls as the bride with purple pearl centres to the flowers, to complement the older bridesmaids.

All four Alice bands completed, they were lined up for the final photo shoot before being wrapped up in tissue paper for the big day.

With three older bridesmaids, Emma wanted charm style bracelets made from pearls to reflect her jewellery, but in a colour to complement their dresses.

Emma wanted the necklaces to contain the same pearls as the bracelets, but wanted them to appear "floating".
I have asked Emma to post us some pictures as soon as she can and lets hope we can all share her special day.

Ready for a break

Sent out some press releases to magazines in an attempt to promote my business and have been in contact with The Hub in Sleaford to try and have some items in their shop. It's a large craft/gallery and will be fantastic if I can exhibit there.

Mussons of Lincoln, who produce handmade suits and shirts have agreed to put out some of my business cards so I'm hoping this will produce more wedding orders.

Having just finished another wedding I am now ready for a break and with half term looming, I am going to spend some time with my children over the following week.

The tiara, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and alice bands have now all been handed over to the bride.

The wedding will be on the 30th October and I will publish pictures of the items once the bride has walked down the aisle, but not until then!!!

Emma has promised to send me some pictures of her day and so will publish them when they arrive.

In the meantime, it's time for a well earned rest.

Not enough hours

Having finished the wedding in three weeks (photos will be shown after the date!)
I have finished two bracelets on order and now have another order for a necklace.
I'm part way through completing something new for one of the shops and I have to put some more items on my site.
Now all I need is more hours in the day!
Dave has now read this and suggests I sleep less and cut out meals!!!
I won't publish the answer.
Suggestions welcome though.

Work, workk work

It's been a hectic time with a craft fair, orders and a wedding to complete. Having now done the wedding order and the craft fair, I now have to complete my orders and prepare for a jewellery party at the weekend.
Hopefully the busy times will keep rolling!

Busy times

Not updated this for some time, but as someone was talking on the craft forum about blogs today, I thought I should update mine and I now see I have some followers apart from my friends on facebook ....yeah!

Currently working on a wedding for next month. The bride is now in posession of her tiara and bracelet ( will publish pics once the wedding has happened as I don't want her day spoiled).

Unfortunately she didn't think the bracelet she commissioned me to make, matched the dress, but I have just finished another and so have this to show her.

I have now finished the alice band for the younger bridesmaids and the jewellery for the older bridesmaids and I will find out tomorrow if this order is to be produced for the seven bridesmaids, so excited, but nervous.

Just finished my press releases to promote my business and had them checked by a wonderful and talented friend of my husband's who used to be in the business and so now I just have to decide where to e-mail them off to (try to send off to as many as possible).

Had a few enquiries after my appearance on two fab blogs whose sites appear on the front page of my shop.

In case you haven't checked out what I'm all about go to http://eiledon.co.uk

Wish me luck for tomorrow! x

Brides

Following a mention on the Bead Barmy blog, my website continues to be growing in interest with more enquiries coming.
The next wedding is keeping me busy. The tiara is now finished along with the bride's jewellery and now I have to begin on the bridesmaids.
Spoke to another bride last night about her requirements and so am busy with the sketchpad working on a few ideas to present to her.
May these busy times continue!

New Feature!!!

Just appeared on a blog called bead barmy and I have to say it looks very impressive.

It features people who design items for weddings and showcases their websites and so I'm very excited to be included on it.

I've just had another commission to create a tiara and a piece of jewellery for a bride's special day.

Getting busier keeping the shops stocked with jewellery and so now all starting to come together.

Hope this carries on!!!

Bracelets

Been a busy bee today making three bracelets and a beaded flower.

Some are still experimental, but have to test out my thoughts and ideas.

Now going to spend the evening just relaxing as I start work again next friday and so will have no more friday nights in front of tv (working every friday night!)

Can't believe the Scott is already so old and it is time to go back to work, still have the rest of the week to enjoy life.

Sketches

Been busy keeping Zoe and Scott entertained whilst trying to jot down ideas for tiaras, running through my head.

Spent the evening making bracelets.

Visited one of the shops to restock some of my jewellery and take in a shawl made for a customer's specifications.

Tomorrow I will be jotting down more ideas, which seem to coming thick and fast at the moment and tomorrow night I will be probably trying out some of those ideas....must keep going!!!

Busy

Another item has been put onto my online shop, but may have to put some projects aside this month as I may have another wedding on the way!

My favourite and most exciting day to design for and with a query for a bride and her seven bridesmaids I'll have to get a move on with things, but I love it!

Ladies day

Well, ladies day has come and gone. A bit disappointing on the numbers that attended, but I had a few enquiries on my wedding jewellery and jewellery parties.....so fingers crossed.

I managed to complete another piece for the shop and have decided to try and put a new piece in the shop every day for the month of August....may be too much with me starting back at my day job next week, but we'll see how I go.

Here's the latest addition to the shop:

Wasted

Went all the way to Lincoln to get more business cards printed, only to find that the machine wasn't working.
I'll have to now print lots of flyers to hand out on Saturday, which don't look as professional as the cards, but will have to do.
Will have to pop to Boston tomorrow to get some props for the stall to show off the jewellery to the max.....have to get those sales in.
Two more days to go. I'll have to make some extra jewellery to put in for the raffle for the charity auction, so must dash and get on.

Getting ready

Just had a big parcel of boxes delivered, which was just what I needed for my craft fair on Saturday.
I spent nearly every evening on holiday busily making more jewellery for the ladies day and had nothing to present them in.
Now got the boxes, I will be spending the rest of the evening packaging them and putting the prices on the items.
Just hope I have lots of sales for all this extra work.
I have also just been invited to another craft fair at a classic car and bike show so once I see how this one goes, perhaps this will be the way forward.............

Happy Hols

Just come back from a great holiday in Norfolk. The weather wasn't fantastic, but it was better than home where it poured down.

Today I'm featured on a blog: sweetcottonthreads written by the very talented Em who also has her own great website with lots of lovely things on sale.....check it out!

Now getting ready for a ladies day at the Sleaford Cricket ground and so trying to make lots of jewellery, ordering boxes to present them in etc.

Come and visit me at Saturday 7th August 2-8pm at the Sleaford Cricket Ground.

I'm soooooo excited!

Jo from Bead barmy, which is a blog with a huge following, contacted me a few weeks ago asking for my website details.
She has since got back to me to say she would like to interview me and put my site on the blog as a good place to get wedding items from- yeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Filled in the questions to the interview until late last night (just to make sure I got everything right) along with a few pictures.
Just have to wait to be featured now.
Hope it brings more people to my website and Eiledon can further expand.
Watch this space!

Tuesday, 20 July 2010

Was so busy yesterday that I didn't have time to even log on. Done a little today and finished off a green purl and ribbon necklace on order, but not yet had time to take it into the shop for the customer.

Got lots to do today as taking Zoe and her friend to see The Saturdays tonight. It's going to be a late one and I've just discovered that its standing, not seated so I hope they'll be ok.

Better get on

Tiara

Had a few manic days, with Scott not sleeping properly over the last few nights and with me worrying about returning to my day job.

Managed to make a tiara on my four hour journey to work and back and I have also in the last few days managed to make a wedding hair comb to attach to a veil.

I have taken pictures of them to put into my shop:

http//eiledon.co.uk

Wednesday, 14 July 2010

Work!!!

Yesterday I was given a veil, which inspired me to make another wedding comb.

I wasn't happy with it this morning, so I took apart a half of it and remade it!

Tomorrow I have to go into work to talk about my return after maternity leave.....not looking forward to it!

Monday, 12 July 2010

Still so tired

Managed to make three bracelets tonight to take to the shop tomorrow and made four French beaded flowers.

One of them is for a friend to use on a cushion she is making for her sister's birthday and the other three are for a wedding.

They will be wrapped onto hair grips to be worn by the three bridesmaids!

Think I may go to bed early to catch up on some lost hours from the weekend!

Sunday, 11 July 2010

Need a weekend off!

Just been away for the weekend to Woodhall Spa.

Left the caravan and Dave at the site to set up whilst I went to collect Zoe from school with Scott.

Spent the very sunny saturday morning at the outdoor pool with Dave, Zoe and Scott. Went around the shops and to a cafe for a late lunch before returning to the caravan for the evening.

When Zoe and Scott eventually went to sleep, I spent the evening making pink beaded flowers for three bridesmaids to wear in their hair at a wedding in August.

Due to the weather, kept being woken up by Scott and so had to spend time keeping him quiet so that the rest of the site were not woken up by his screams!

Not yet finished the beaded flowers, but I'll have to get a move on to have them finished in time.

I'm so exhausted, I need another weekend off to get over the weekend....still lots of washing and ironing to get on with to keep me awake!

The good thing was, I returned to find some of my beads I ordered nearly a month ago have now arrived and so I can get on with making the bracelets for the customers I have waiting....when I get the energy and the time.
